From 1 July 2026, the Australian Government is introducing changes to Medicare's Assignment of Benefits process. These changes are designed to strengthen compliance and ensure patients provide clear consent when a bulk-billed service is claimed from Medicare on their behalf.

For most patients, your appointment experience will remain largely unchanged. If your consultation is bulk billed, we may ask you to provide consent by signing a form during your appointment or at reception, or by responding to a secure SMS link sent to your mobile phone to assign your Medicare benefit. Our team will guide you through this process and work to make it as quick and straightforward as possible.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as medical practices across Australia adapt to these new requirements. Our priority is to continue providing high-quality care while meeting Medicare's updated billing and compliance obligations.
