Dr Gus Channo is the Medical Principal of The Madison Medical Practice St Ives, and prides himself on leading like-minded individuals in caring for the St Ives Communities. Gus has been a Doctor for over 17 years and a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners since 2010. Gus is passionate about Patient care, and prides himself on attention to detail and thoroughness. His vast experience in both rural and city communities have given him a greater understanding of people which enhances patient engagement.

Gus has worked in several leading hospitals including the Royal Adelaide and St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney over his career and enjoys teaching the next generation of General Practitioners as a GP Synergy Supervisor. Gus has special interests in Peadatrics, Men’s health, Preventative Medicine and has experience in Aged Care management. Gus is fluent in English and Arabic.


Dr Chitra Das


The Madison Medical Practice St Ives welcomes Dr Chitra Das as a consultant GP. Chitra is an experienced Medical Practitioner (GP) who graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, and received her fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2017.

Chitra’s special interests include Paediatrics and Skin Cancers. She has attained a Diploma in Paediatrics and Adolescent health from Sydney Westmead hospital, and obtained Advanced surgical training in Skin Cancer Surgery from Health Cert under Bond University Queensland.

Apart from advanced training in Skin Cancer diagnosis and treatment, and Paediatrics, Chitra has interests in Women’s Health, and Geriatric Management of chronic disease. Chitra performs minor operations such as Ingrown toe nail surgery, Suturing, removal of foreign bodies, Contraceptive IUDs – Implanon insertion and removal, Mirena removal only.

Chitra is excited about joining the Madison Medical Team as she believes in continuity of patient care, and provides preventive care with education to her patients, an ethos we both share.

She is a mother of two beautiful young girls. And enjoys playing piano.

Dr Gagandeep “Gagan” Sawhney MBBS FRACGP

Gagan is a female General Practitioner who graduated from the Government Medical College in Amritsar, India in 1992. After migrating to Australia in 1996 she continued her studies and trained at Prince of Wales Hospital, Concord Repatriation General Hospital and Rozelle Hospitals for many years to expose herself to many areas of patient care to enhance her medical experience. Gagan commenced her General Practice Specialty training at the University of Western Sydney as a part of the “Wentwest” program in 2005. After completing her rural term in Oberon she joined the team at The Madison Medical Practice in 2006 and has been a devoted to the St Ives community ever since.  Gagan’s empathetic and extensive experience has seen patients come from all over Sydney, a testament of her commitment to practice holistic medicine. Gagan has a special interest in Women’s and Children’s health, as well as Family Health, Geriatrics and Mental Health. Gagan is fluent in English, Punjabi and Hindi. Her aim as a General Practitioner is to practice medicine where she can provide quality care to all her patients and be available for them when in need.

Dr Lina Channo has over 20 years experience in the medical field, she has completed her internship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and residency at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital . 

Before starting her general practice training , she worked at The Woolcock Institute of Medical Research in 2006 ,working in the areas of nasal, sinus ,allergy and asthma research.

Lina obtained her fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2010 , and has worked in rural practice in Orange before moving to the Upper North Shore in 2012.

Lina enjoys all aspects of general practice, she has a special interest in women’s health and Paediatrics and she holds a certificate in sexual health and family planning.

She is also interested in chronic disease management, mental health , preventive health, lifestyle medicine and weight loss management.

Lina has recently completed The Professional Certificate of Musculoskeletal and Sport Medicine through HealthCert education at Bond University in QLD. She has special interest in Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis management and has completed the fall risk identification in older people ( 65 years and older) and a tailored approach to managing Clinical Audit.

Lina strongly believes in the multidisciplinary team approach and works closely with Allied health professionals to achieve better patient outcomes.

Lina is a caring GP, thorough and enjoys being able to develop a long term relationship with her patients.

Outside of medicine, Lina lives locally and is married with two children. She enjoys walking ,yoga and cooking.

Dr Kawisha Arander BMed MD MPH DCH FRACGP

Dr Kawisha Arander is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Kawisha completed her Medical Degree at UNSW in 2016 with distinction and completed her Internship and Residency at Nepean Hospital. She is passionate about preventative health care and strives to provide quality, holistic care to her patients and their families. Dr. Kawisha Arander has also completed a Master of Public Health specialising in Primary Care with Distinction at UNSW.  She has a special interest in Paediatrics and has completed the Sydney Child Health Program. She also provides shared antenatal care to pregnant women booked at Hornsby and Royal North Shore Hospital. She is fluent in English and Sinhalese.

Outside of work, Kawisha enjoys exploring the great outdoors and discovering hidden hiking trails around Sydney. She loves to immerse herself in diverse cultural experiences around the world through dance, good food and travel.

The Madison Medical Practice welcomes Dr Sanjev Krishnamohan to the St Ives team. Dr Sanjev completed his Medical Degree at University of Sydney and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in 2012. Subsequently he worked at Concord & Canterbury Hospitals before specialising in Family Medicine & General Practice and is a Fellow of the Royal College of GPs. Sanjev has a particularly interest in Paediatrics, Diabetes, Cardiovascular, Respiratory, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, Mental health, Dermatology & Skin cancer checks. In addition to his hospital experience, Sanjev possesses many years’ experience in private practice, home and nursing home visits. He has assisted with teaching at the Sydney University Medical School and his research has been  published in medical conferences & peer reviewed journals. Outside of work, Sanjev enjoys everything outdoor, including being a keen jogger and playing tennis. He very much enjoys spending time with his young family. Sanjev is fluent in Tamil. Dr Farah Abadi MD BMed DCH FRACGP

The Madison Medical Practice St Ives welcomes Dr Farah Abadi to our busy Practice as a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of GPs. Farah completed her final placement of her GP program last year.

Farah graduated in 2017 with MD and BMedSt from Queensland, and completed her internship and residency in Gosford and Wyong Hospital. She is passionate about delivering preventative and wholistic healthcare to her patients. She enjoys all aspects of medical practice but her special interests are in Preventive Health, Women’s health, Pediatrics and Chronic Disease management.  She has also completed the Diploma in Child Health in 2019 through Westmead Children’s Hospital. During her GP training years she trained in Tamworth, Kellyville and St Ives. She lives locally and is familiar with the demographic and is looking forward in caring for the communities medical needs.

In accordance with our ongoing commitment to help train and shape the next generation of GPs, the Madison Medical Practice St Ives welcomes Dr XP Cheah who is in his final term to the team. Dr XP Cheah completed his medical degree at the University of Queensland in 2014. XP completed his initial hospital training at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, then worked in the emergency departments at Manly and Mona Vale Hospitals as a senior resident and at Liverpool Hospital as an emergency registrar. XP has experience working in corporate medical assistance, coordinating aeromedical evacuations and providing travel medical advice.

XP enjoys all aspects of General Practice, having worked at various practices across Sydney. He has a special interest in Men’s Health, preventative health, and minor procedures, and will be undertaking further training in skin cancer medicine.  XP lives locally in the Upper North Shore. Outside of work, he is an avid traveller, and enjoys skiing, distance running, and spending time with his wife and Golden Retriever.

Leesa is a Registered Psychologist, who trained at the University of New South Wales and Sydney University. She has extensive knowledge and experience in working with acute and chronic clinical Mental Health presentations, such as schizophrenia and bipolar, as well as with gambling addictions, anxiety, depression, trauma, parenting concerns and has experience in working with children, adolescents, adults as well as older persons. Her special interests are parenting interventions, attachment theory depression, anxiety, gambling and post natal depression and psycho-education.

Leesa is a Psychology Supervisor and mentors and teaches Psychology Interns. She works collaboratively, using a variety of therapy styles including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Solution Focussed therapy, Motivational Interviewing and strengths based therapy. Leesa’s approach to treatment is that is should be a collaboration, with the aim to assist the client to identify and build on their strengths to help them to live the fulfilling and value filled life they deserve.

She is a Registrered Psychologist with AHPRA and Medicare and a member of the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc (AAPI).

The Madison Medical Practice St Ives is delighted to have Dr Chung-Yao Yu Cardiologist consulting on Mondays from the 27th of June. Dr Yu is a Consultant Cardiologist at the Sydney North Cardiology group and the Mater Hospital. Dr Yu is passionate about patient care and has been conducting a Cardiac Clinics at the Madison Medical Practice Hornsby for the past 5 years.  He has completed his fellowship in Cardiac Imaging in St Vincent’s hospital and holds a PhD in Cardiac Imaging. Dr Yu’s special interests include cardiac imaging, general cardiology and heart failure. He also performs is able to conduct complex diagnostic procedures and is an accredited Level B CT coronary angiography specialist. He currently reports cardiac CT for many radiology providers around Australia.  Dr Yu is also fluent in Mandarin.

Gauri Donald Dietitian

Gauri is an Accredited Practising Dietitian specialising in South Asian Diets. She grew up in the country side on fresh vegetarian food and loved growing vegetables from a young age. She believes that healthy eating is possible in every culture and cuisine. Gauri is passionate about cooking from fresh ingredients and trialling various cuisines. She is a mother of a toddler and understands the challenges of cooking for a family with varying nutritional needs and tastes. Gauri has been working as a dietitian for 5 years and in private practice for 2 years. She enjoys working in a multidisciplinary team who are committed to holistic and preventative health. Gauri’s favourite thing about being a private dietitian is getting to know and help her patients from diverse backgrounds to love food and enjoy good health. Gauri has had experience in a major public hospitals and various nursing homes. Gauri has a special management programs that assist in weight loss, weight gain, healthy eating, Diabetes, Blood pressure and Cholesterol management, Vegetarian and Vegan diets, Emotional eating, Digestive health, Liver health, Food allergies and intolerances and Women’s health.

Jessica has been a practicing Physiotherapist enjoying both private practice sports therapies and general practice to provide patients programs to assist with muscular strength and rehabilitation. She has a special interest in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and applies best practice/ evidence based approach to treatment; incorporating Individualised and patient centered care. Jessica is passionate about health care and fitness and has developed many skills working in multiple physiotherapy settings: Private practice, hospitals and occupational rehab. She has completed, Bounce Back lower back preventative core exercise training programs and the esteemed Professor Jill Cook’s Lower Limb Tendinopathy course and Sports Level 1.

Isabella Ooi Podiatrist

Isabella is a Registered Podiatrist with the Australian Podiatry Association having graduated from Western Sydney University with a Bachelor of Health Science and Masters of Podiatric Medicine. She has experience within Australia in both public and private sectors, has complete training with podiatric surgeons and overseas in Galway, Ireland.

Having grown up on the North Shore, she is passionate about servicing her community and playing an active role in improving the quality of life of others. Her specialty is interacting with ‘at risk’ populations such as elderly and diabetic patients. Isabella is particularly interested in diabetic foot care, fungal nails, treating ingrown nails and nail surgery. She has a holistic treatment approach incorporating evidence-based practice; extending to life style modifications and orthotic therapy.

Her easy going, compassionate and sincere nature is what helps patients warm to her so quickly. She loves a good chat and challenge, and she strives to have every patient walk out with a smile.

Linda Severino is an experienced Registered, Child & Family Health Nurse, Nurse Immuniser & AGPAL Co-surveyor. Linda graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing at The University of Western Sydney in 1992. To complement her skills, she later completed another Degree in Health majoring in Management, Health promotion and Education. Linda has extensive Clinical and Managerial experience within the hospital and community health settings, by leading both clinical and non-clinical personnel, and has been a Mentor to many students over the past 20 years. Linda is a qualified Child and Family Health Nurse and Nurse Immuniser. In 2016 Linda was appointed a AGPAL Co-surveyor enabling her to review and accredit other General Practice facilities to ensure optimum service delivery to all patients across Australia. Linda has extensive experience with babies and prides herself on assisting and educating mothers with their newborns. Linda’s care and devotion to her patients has seen her become a popular Health Care Professional not only within the Hornsby & St Ives Community but the North Shore.
